Disney’s newest Princess, Tiana will finally grace the big screen on December 11, 2009 in theaters nationwide. In honor of her debut, The GlamBar (a one-stop beauty haven located in historic Castleberry) will host “Princess Dreams” a beauty and pampering night for mother/ daughter pairs featuring Carol’s Daughter “Princess and a Frog” beauty line in collaboration with giving makeovers to under privileged girls who are a part of Big Boi’s “Big Kids” Foundation and Diamond in the Rough Girls Group. Mothers and Daughters will experience a night of walking the purple carpet, complimentary beauty services to prepare for their big night out, the revealing of the Kimberville (c) Barbies of Color Exhibit, a signature cupcake and lollipop bar and more.

Sunkissed Mommy is thrilled to be hosting a giveaway for one of our lucky readers to win two (2) tickets to attend this glamorous event. The winner will have the opportunity to walk the purple carpet with the little princess in their life. See below on how to win! Princess Tiana is a long-overdue addition to the few brown princesses on TV (or anywhere else for that matter). My 5 year old hooted and hollered about seeing a “Brown Princess” when we watched the preview of this movie, and I truly felt happy for her!

I cannot TELL you have very excited I am about this film and to finally have a Disney princess that looks like me…more importantly, one that looks like my little girl. I struggled with self-image most of my life and we didn’t always have pretty dolls that made us think we were pretty. So glad to have the beautiful Tiana as a positive image of black beauty for my daughter!!

The significance of Princess Tiana for young kids of color is that anyone can be a princess and make their dreams come true.

Princess Tiana gives every little sunkissed girl a sense of pride, beauty and confidence. Every young lady of color is a princess and their dreams can become a reality. I cannot wait to take my daughter to see the movie and surround ourselves in the goodness that the movie will leave with anyone attending. Can’t wait to meet other sunkissed mommies there!!

I think it is very important to the little girls to have a Princess Tiana. This completes the circle and it also shows girls they all are princess no matter what race they are. Love it.

My 4 year old daughter just went through a very emotional time after bein singled out as the only African American female in her class. Princess Tiana has been an anchor in the campaign to bring her back to a position where she loves and respects herself as well as other people of different backgrounds. She colored Princess Tiana every color when we printed out coloring pages for her. A very valuable lesson was taught: We are all a human race! She will be seeing the movie opening day.
